Rare Blues Duet by Taj Mahal and Carole Fredericks Debuts on XM Satellite Radio “Bluesville

Canandaigua, NY- CDF Music Legacy spokesperson, Connie Fredericks-Malone, announced that XM Satellite “Bluesville” program has added a rare duet recorded by Taj Mahal and his late sister Carole Fredericks to its roster of blues music.

With the demands of a 24/7/365 days a year nationwide Blues channel, “Bluesville” Program Director, Bill Wax, is forever on the look-out for unique recordings. Wax discovered the duet “You Had It Comin” while listening to the album Springfield by Carole Fredericks.
Fredericks emigrated to France in 1979 where she became an icon in pop/rock French music. In 1996, Fredericks recorded Springfield an album which pays tribute to her American Rhythm and Blues idols – Aretha Franklin, Sam and Dave, and the British rock group the Beatles. With long-time music colleague, Jacques Veneruso, Fredericks co-wrote “You Had It Comin” for her debut solo album. Springfield, an all- English language album, was recorded in Paris and released in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
It wasn’t until after Fredericks’ untimely death in 2001, that Taj Mahal and the Fredericks family secured the rights to release the album in the United States.
After listening to Springfield, Bill Wax knew he had unearthed a blues recording rare gem.
“Bluesville” showcases “You Had It Comin” and “Let Him Be Blues” a second track by Fredericks and Veneruso from the album.
